Ravens vs. Texans 2013

9月22日、Baltimore M&T stadiumでBaltimore Ravens vs. Houston Texansの試合が行われました。

3年間を共にした!?Baltimore Ravensと、地元Houston Texansの因縁の対決、、、。
息子と二人でRavens Jerseyを着てTVの前で昼間っからPizza食べながら応援！
（妻と娘は一応Ravens T-shirtを着て、別室で半沢直樹の最終回で大興奮）
結果は、30-9でRavensの圧勝！！

うーん、土肥ちゃん、しびれたぜ！！

その後ろには、昨シーズンで引退し、この日はRing of Honorの表彰式だった、#52 Ray Lewis

昨年までRay Lewisと共にDefenseの要だった#20 Ed Reed
今年からHouston Texansに移り、この日が今シーズン初先発

ちょっと自慢

JHHでの3年間の”証”が突然届きました！
こんな証書が貰えるとは思ってもおらず、思わず目頭が熱くなりました、、、。

臨床から離れてしまうことを、恐怖にさえ感じて始めた研究留学。
今となっては、毎日研究のことだけを考えていられる後任のDr. Horiが、羨ましくさえ思えます。

ホントこんなの貰っちゃって、額に入れて飾っちゃうよ！？

The certification upon completion of research fellowship in Cardiac Surgery

I've got the certification from JHH upon completion of research fellowship! 

At the beginning of my research carrier, I was really concerned and afraid that I could not do surgical training for a while. However, it was not a big deal. Now, I'm jealous of Dr. Hori, who took over my research job at JHH, as he can dedicate to research work every day. 

I displayed this certification with a picture of Dr. Hogue.

Journal Club

先日、Texas Medical Center (TMC) Thoracic and Cardiovascular Journal Clubに参加しました。
Johns HopkinsでもJournal Clubに参加していましたが、TMCはちょっと”ひと味”違いました。

6:30pm、Texas Medical Center内の会場に着くと、Table Settingされた席が、、、。
なんと、TMC Journal Clubは、Dinnerを堪能しながら 、Wineを飲みながらのGorgeous & Deliciousな、”ひと味”違う抄読会なのです！

ちなみに心臓麻酔科のJournal Clubは、Professorのお家で、Buffet-Style Dinner Partyでした。
なんかいいよね、こういうの！

Journal ClubのDinner Menuでございます。
この日はEntreeにFilet Mignonを注文させて頂きました！

We had a Thoracic and Cardiovascular Journal Club. The Journal Club was held at gorgeous and delicious restaurant in the Texas Medical Center in the evening. I ordered filet mignon for entree and it was very good! I cannot wait for the next Journal Club in October.   

大動脈外科医

THIには、世界的に有名な大動脈外科医のDr. Coselliがいます。

初めて見た彼の手術は、Redo Aortic Root Replacement, (s/p AVR, Ascending Ao Replacement)でした。
感想は一言。
”こりゃ、次元が違うな、、、”

Thoraco-Abdominal Aneurysm Repairは彼の十八番です。
この手術、日本の一般的な施設では、おそらく年間10例程度。
最も多いとされている施設で、年間50例程度。
THIでは、、、週に5例以上！
実に年間200例以上のThoraco-Abdominal Aneurysm Repairが行われているのです。

先日、そんなDr. CoselliのCABGを見る機会がありました。
大動脈外科医は冠動脈手術も上手！と勝手に思い込んでいました、、、。

日本人で彼の冠動脈吻合を見た事がある人は、そうそういないでしょう。
とにかく、THIに来て良かった！

Dr. Coselli is one of the the most famous aortic surgeons in the whole world. I can watch his aortic surgery at THI daily. When I watched his operation for the first time, I felt that his operation was beyond my expectation and his work belongs to a different sphere. 

He is very famous for the operation of  "Thoraco-Abdominal Aneurysm Repair". Most of surgeon in Japan would practice this operation less than 10 cases per year. He operates this procedure at least 5 cases per week!  

San Antonio観光

先週末はOn-Callもなく、月曜日がLabor Dayでお休みの3連休という事で、Houstonから車で3時間、San Antonioに行ってきました！
San Antonioといえば、Rever WalkとSea World！
